Becoming A Member
1. Attend church for a while. You’ll get to know people, and experience some of the things we do at Central. We’d suggest at least a month.
2. Come forward at the invitation after the sermon. Fill out one of the Decision Cards in the pew and bring it with you. The minister will welcome you and introduce you to the congregation. After worship, please stick around! Our people want to meet you!
3. Get active! We think membership is important. Membership doesn’t just put your name on a list. It is something you do. We expect our members to be actively involved in their own spiritual growth as well as actively involved in the life of the church. Any of our ministers and members can help you get involved! A good way to start is by participating in our four-week class called “Discovering Central.” Also check out our links to Small Groups and Serving Opportunities.
If you are transferring from another congregation we will only send them a note
about your transfer if you want us to and provide us the address.
There are benefits to membership. People who become members get a key to the executive washroom where they will find the answers to all their deepest questions. Not really! Only kidding! The main practical benefit to being a member is that only members can be elders, deacons, committee chairs and board officers. People who aren’t yet members can still participate in committees, ministries, small groups, worship, giving and everything else.
How Do I Become A Member at Central?
It’s not difficult to become a member of Central Christian Church. If you are making your confession of faith and being baptized that automatically makes you a member. If you’re already a Christian but not a member here, there is a simple three-step process to becoming a member:

So why should a person become a member at Central? One of the most significant reasons is that coming forward to place your membership at Central is a way of identifying fully with God’s people here. You will be saying, “I agree with these people. I believe what they believe. I value what they value. I want to be known as one of them.” I want to be part of this family of Christians.
Membership brings a certain level of commitment that may otherwise not be there. Studies have shown people to be more fully involved and committed when they make the decision to actually become members of a church.
It is true that the modern concept of membership may not be found in the Bible. There are a couple of passages that encourage the kind of commitment that membership brings. Acts 1 tells us about the first Christians who joined together in prayer in the upper room after Jesus’ resurrection. They stayed together until Jesus’ promise of the Holy Spirit was fulfilled. They chose leadership and worshiped and ministered together just like any modern congregation today.
In 1 Corinthians 12, Romans 12 and Ephesians 4 we see a picture of the church as a body. Church membership is a way of fully committing to be part of this body, the Body of Christ. We want to encourage you to become a fully committed member of this body here at Central Christian Church. We’re ready to be your church family.
